We are a family of three + pup learning to navigate the skies of parenting, marriage, growing up, friendship, education, writing, loss, and faith. Basically, life.
Peter is a husband, father, dreamer, and restorer. He spends his days tending to the grass on a public golf course in the middle of a city and nights in the country juggling family life, studying for seminary, and making those around him laugh.
Erika is a wife, mother, writer, and creator. Education, story, and children’s books capture her heart as do her boys. She is a quiet leader, loves deeply, and is a loyal friend.
Tyler is a son, builder, budding historian, and lover of the outdoors. He is an old soul with a soft heart and makes us laugh…and sometimes pull our hair out.
Lily is our resident canine and body guard, all of fourteen pounds. Her claim to fame is that she escaped across the San Francisco Bay and somehow found her way back to us. I’d say she’s here to stay but she would go with anyone who gives her attention.
The image of the kite came to Erika following their second miscarriage. As she began to process and write about the loss, the metaphor continued the way metaphors do and swiftly became the inspiration behind From the String of a Kite.
Grab your paper and string and we’ll see you out in a field or on the beach with your own diamond in the sky. Join us as we learn to fly.
